Hire terms & conditions

These terms apply to all trailer hires from Plymouth Trailer Rentals. By making a booking you confirm that you accept them.

Hire charges and deposit

Hire charges are quoted per day and reduce with longer hires (1–2 days, 3–4 days and 5 days or more).

A refundable deposit, typically £250, is taken against every hire. The deposit is returned after the trailer has been checked back in, less the cost of any damage, loss, cleaning or other costs incurred.

The hire charge and deposit are payable by collection.

Insurance and towing

You must ensure you are insured to tow the trailer and that your licence entitles you to tow it.

You are responsible for ensuring your towing vehicle is suitable, that the load is safe and secure, and that the combination is legal on the road.

Number plates

Number plates are not supplied. You must fit a number plate that matches your towing vehicle before using the trailer on the road.

Included equipment

A hitch lock and spare wheel are supplied with every trailer. Car transporter trailers also include ratchet straps.

All supplied equipment must be returned with the trailer. Missing or damaged equipment will be charged for.

Condition, damage and loss

Trailers are supplied in good, road-legal condition. Please inspect the trailer at collection and raise any concerns before leaving.

You are responsible for the trailer while it is in your possession, including damage, theft, tyres, lights and cleanliness. Costs are deducted from the deposit or invoiced where they exceed it.

Collection, delivery and returns

Collection is from our base in Roborough, Plymouth. Local delivery and collection can be arranged subject to location and availability and is charged separately.

Trailers must be returned by the agreed return date and time. Late returns may be charged at the daily rate, and may affect other customers' bookings.

Cancellations and changes

Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or change your dates. We will always try to move your booking where the trailer is available.

If a trailer hire is cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled booking, refunds for the hire charge will not be issued, as the reserved space cannot be reallocated at short notice. Security deposits will be refunded in full.

We reserve the right to cancel a hire where a trailer becomes unroadworthy or unavailable; in that case any payment made for that hire is refunded in full.

Use of the trailer

Trailers must not be sub-hired, taken abroad without prior written agreement, overloaded beyond their gross weight, or used for anything unlawful.

The trailer may only be towed by the person named on the booking unless otherwise agreed in advance.
